This is Class 6 with their topic "Cyber Bullying".
The main slogan is "Take Off Your Mask".
A Campaign Message from Iris and the Team:
Take Off Your Mask!
Do you know Korea's suicide rate is higher than other
countries? 28.4 percent of people commit suicide in our country. It's high.
Hello, my name is Iris and our team members are Samuel, May, Seoyun and I. Our
topic is ‘take off your mask online.’ We will stop cyber bullying. Our main
topics are anonymity, hurt feelings and suicide.
Some people suicide
because of the cyber bullying. They hurt their feelings so they choose that
way. We can save people's lives. Then, we have to stop cyber bullying. According
to nobullying.com "More than 14 percent of high school students have
considered suicide and nearly 7 percent have attempted it that is why you will,
sadly, read about cyber bullying cases in the media now more than ever."
The connection between many who commit suicide because of cyber bullying is
they hurt their feeling.
Anonymity, you should have heard this word a lot of times. This might be used in not a harmful way but it might also be used in a really harmful way. For example, the hacking group Anonymous. Or, when people troll. They troll and do not think about others’ feelings. Trolling is when someone types harmful comments or just joke about what people wrote. If we stop anonymity then people will not troll because they can be tracked down by the police. That is why we think anonymity is related to cyber bullying.
Cyber bullying is bad for perpetrators, too because perpetrators
get addicted to it. First, they think it is just for fun and decide to stop at
one time. However, when they keep bullying others, they think they aren’t doing
cyber bullying. They also think that it’s very fun to make other people to feel
sad or angry. For example, I saw perpetrators laughing at a victim’s small
mistake (such as grammar).
When the victim got mad, the perpetrators said he was cute
and laughed again.
Because of
this cyber bullying, lots of people are having a damage on their lives. It
could be good thing for hackers, but it could give hopeless feelings for someone.
We should stop this cyber bullying!
Here is a speech by Ellie Park and the media team to be featured in the final expo:
Be Yourself Online.
Many people around the world suffer from
cyber bullying every day.
According to www.iamkorean.com
one third (1/3) of Korean students get cyber trolled or bullied. It is becoming
a serious problem every day.
People get hacked and trolled for no
reason. There was a real case when Fox News was hacked live. This seems like a
problem that doesn't happen often, but it is happening all the time. Cyber
bullying is becoming a bigger issue. From 1990-2000 the average percentage of
cyber bullying in youth has doubled, according to sites.google.com.
Even though we try to stop cyber bullying,
it fails every time. Because of that, not many parents try to educate their
children to stop cyber bullying. Also, not many parents are discussing with
their kids about "internet safety". We need to stop that and continue
cyber education.
Cyber bullying doesn't just hurt people's
mind- it also makes people commit suicide. www.cyberbullyhotline.com
says that almost 4500 kids commit suicide each year from cyber bullying stress.
It means that cyber bullying is same thing as murdering. Not a lot of people
know that cyber trolling and bullying is a serious problem.
Only 3% of people notify the teachers about
cyber trolling and bullying problems, and 2.2% of people report to the police.
We need everybody's attention to stop all of this.
We need to make the earth a healthier place
where everyone says happy. No more cyber bullying, and no more cyber trolling.
The troll face-is it really you? Put down
your online weapon, and be yourself online!
